We’ve all heard it: "Drink more water." But as a functional medicine doc, I see so many people who are "water-logged" but still functionally dehydrated. You’re drinking the gallon, but it’s just passing through you like a mountain stream over smooth rocks, Nothing is actually soaking in.
True hydration is a cellular dance. To get water into your cells, you need minerals (electrolytes like magnesium, potassium, and high-quality sea salt). Think of these as the key that unlocks the cell door. Without them, your nerves can’t fire correctly, and your chiropractic adjustments won’t stick as well because your fascia and discs are brittle rather than bouncy.
From a structural perspective, your spinal discs are like sponges. If they’re dry, they lose their height and cushion, leading to that cranky back feeling.
